Thank you to The Mad Italian for the delicious and generous dinner and to all of those who participated in supporting the DHS Band program. Please see below for updates to our Spring schedule, especially the changes to the band concert and banquet dates.
Key Events for Spring Semester
Percussion Clinic. February 16 – May 18, Wednesdays 4:00-5:30pm in DHS band room
If you are participating in the Percussion Clinic and have not paid, please pay the $100 fee, which covers the instructor cost. See Ms. Caputo for more information.
All Roads Lead to Dunwoody. March 17, 5:30pm on DHS turf field
Spring concert band members will be participating in this fun event with all elementary and middle school students from the Dunwoody Cluster. More details to come!
NEW! Kroger Fundraiser. March 19, 1-4pm at Orchard Park Kroger
Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble students will perform in front of the Kroger, and we need extra students and volunteers to help collect donations. We will be sending detailed information and sign up forms later this week, but please put this time on your calendars and plan to come help. This event is an easy way for us to raise funds AND a great opportunity for our Band students to be seen and heard by our Dunwoody community.
Mock LGPE Concert. March 23, 6:00-8:00pm at DHS (5pm call time for students)
Spring concert band students will perform and work with a clinician on stage!
Spring Solo & Ensemble DHS Recital. April 14, DHS, 6:00pm
Prior to the GMEA Solo & Ensemble event on April 23 (see below), we will have a Recital night on April 14 for students to perform for their friends and family prior to performing in front of adjudicators.
Car Wash Fundraiser. April 16, 11am-3pm at Village Burger in Dunwoody
ALL DHS band students are welcome to join the fun as we wash cars and make some money for the Band program!
Spring Jazz Band Concert. April 21, 7pm, Location TBD
As if Jazz Band isn’t sweet enough, our performance with the PMS Jazz band will include a dessert reception!
GMEA Spring Solo & Ensemble. April 23, General Ray Davis Middle School Spring Solo & Ensemble is an opportunity for all Dunwoody High School band students to perform solos, duets, trios, etc. for a rating.
NEW DATE! Spring Band Concert. May 3, 7:00pm at DHS
Spring concert band students will be performing the final concert for all families and friends to attend. More information to come.
NEW DATE! Fine Arts Banquet. May 4, 6:00pm in DHS Cafeteria
For students that participate ANY band ensemble throughout the year, Dunwoody Band holds an annual awards banquet in the spring. This year we will be combining the banquet with the other Fine Arts programs, and it will be a special evening for everyone.
NEW! Marching Band Percussion, Color Guard & Winds Rookie Camp. Dates TBD at DHS
We will be having a percussion, color guard, and winds rookie camp at the end of April/ May. More information to come once dates are confirmed with the instructors.
Marching Band Camp. August 1-5, 12-9pm at DHS
Save the date! Marching Band Camp for the 2022-2023 school year will take place at Dunwoody High School on August 1-5 from 12pm to 9pm (with dinner breaks from 5-6pm). On Friday we will have a family dinner and show preview. Heads up: Make sure you have your annual medical/physical forms completed by your physician before band camp begins! Note: Balances from the 2021 season must be paid (or payment plan in progress) before joining Marching Band for the 2022 season.
Reminders from Your Band Boosters
Concert Band Dues Reminder. Concert Band dues are $60, payable to DHS Band Boosters by PayPal (@DHSbands), Venmo (@dunwoodybands), cash or check. Thank you to those who have already paid!
Corporate Sponsors. We need your help with gaining sponsorships for our DHS Band program. If you know a local business or restaurant that may be willing to sponsor the band, please contact Sara Orrell (saraorrell@gmail.com). The DHS Band Booster Club is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, so all contributions are tax-deductible.
Volunteerism. We are looking for new volunteers and board members as our new Band Booster year begins on May 1. Please see the board and volunteer opportunity descriptions HERE on the band website, and contact Sandra Stewart or Marni Barrett at dunwoodybands@gmail.com to get involved.
