Hopefully you all received the Spring Band Syllabus email and Remind text from Ms. Caputo on Friday, January 7. If not, please make sure you are signed up for all communications through: 1. We have a VERY exciting Spring semester planned, and here are important items to note:
Concert Band Dues. Concert band students are expected to pay the $60 concert band dues as soon as possible. This fee covers items such as concert music, fundamental books, sight reading technique books, minor instrument repairs, additional instructional staff, sectional coaching, competition entrance fee, sanitizing, and much more! Note: students who were in marching band do NOT need to pay the Concert Band dues. Please pay your concert band dues to Dunwoody Band Boosters by PayPal (Dunwoody High School Band Boosters), Venmo (@dunwoodybands), cash or check. Thank you in advance!
Concert Band Uniform Orders. Please see the information from Ms. Caputo on the new concert band uniforms. The cost for uniforms is $60 for females and $43 for males. This cost is a one-time cost that is separate from concert band dues, and it must be paid before your student receives the uniform.
Spring Semester Activities. Please mark your calendars!
* Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). March 10, Time/Location TBD. Selected students will prepare band works and perform a concert for an adjudication panel. This is a select ensemble based on audition/placement by Ms.Caputo. More information to come. * Pre-LGPE Concert. February 24, Peachtree Middle School, Time TBD. The selected ensemble will perform a mock concert for a judging panel held at PMS. * Spring Solo & Ensemble DHS Recital. April 14, DHS, 6:00pm. Students can volunteer to participate in the GMEA Solo & Ensemble event, which consists of students performing either a solo or small ensemble for a judging panel to be evaluated. The GMEA Solo & Ensemble event is April 23, and we will have a Solo & Ensemble Recital prior to the event. Any student is welcome to sign up to perform a solo, duet or small ensemble piece of their choosing. Pieces must be approved by Ms. Caputo and sign-up sheets will be available in March. * GMEA Spring Solo & Ensemble. April 23, Time/Location TBD. This Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) event is a great experience for our band members to get evaluated based on individual and/or group musical performance. * Spring Jazz Band Concert. Late April, Date/Time/Location TBD. Rehearsals for the Jazz band will be held after school in the spring. We will also have a joint performance with the PMS Jazz band. More information to come! * Spring Band Concert. May 5, 7:00pm, Location TBD. Dunwoody bands will be performing their final concert for the semester. The goal is to have an outdoor concert for all families and friends to attend. More information to come. * Spring Band Banquet. May 6, Time/Location TBD. Dunwoody band holds an annual awards banquet in the spring, to reflect on the year’s
Planning Ahead. As with any endeavor, planning ahead will make us successful. It’s only January, but it’s time to start planning ahead for a successful band program next year. With that in mind, we are asking for each of our band families to commit to volunteer in some capacity. There are many different jobs and positions, both small and large. To ensure a smooth transition, we are looking to fill the following positions within the next month: * Band Booster Board Co-President (replacing Sandra Stewart) * Treasurer * Operations

Our students and band program can only be successful with your help, so please consider how you will volunteer next year.
