Hello DHS Bands!
Marching Band As we enter our final week of marching band, our focus will be preparation for Saturday’s competition. Please note practice schedule, below:
Tuesday: In light of the Teacher Work Day, we will practice from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Please reach out if transportation to and from is an issue.
Thursday: Regular marching band practice from 3:30pm – 6:00pm.
Friday: Pregame practice 3:30pm – 5:00pm, followed by Senior Night dinner and game.
Saturday: Report at 8:15am for pre-competition practice- location to be announced, once field availability is confirmed.
Concert Band Thank you to everybody who came out to Thursday’s fall concert! Everybody sounded great and the decorations made it even more fun! Thank you also to the volunteers who helped set-up.

Happy Halloween! We hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing and spooky weekend after a very busy band week. We are very proud of our students for their performance at the DCSD Marching Band Exhibition on Tuesday, a wonderful band concert on Thursday (see photos below), and a great half-time performance on Friday (despite the rainy weather).
We have another busy week ahead!
November 2: Tuesday Practice. Students do not have school on Tuesday, but we will have Marching Band practice from 12-4pm at the school.
November 5: Marching Band Senior Night The Friday football game is Senior Night. We are still waiting to find out the schedule for the Friday night game and performance from the organizers, and we will share the details as soon as they are communicated to us. Parents of underclassmen – Many of our senior parents have volunteered frequently over the past four years. Let’s help honor and thank them by showing up to volunteer on Friday so, they can have a wonderful evening with their students.

November 6: White Columns Invitational Marching Band Competition at Milton High School. Our only competition this year is on Saturday. Students report to DHS at 8:15am for practice prior to departing for the event. It will be an exciting, but very long day. We are the first band to perform – at 2:40pm, and the last band performs at 10pm. (See schedule here.) You can stay the entire day or part of the day, but please consider helping. It is a fun day for the students and parents, and it’s a fun opportunity to watch some great bands perform. The Booster Board will provide sub sandwiches, chips and cookies for lunch, but students will be responsible for their own dinners, so please send your students with a bagged dinner or money for concessions. A note on pickup times. Parents, please pick up your students on time after we return to DHS from a game or competition event. When you are late, Ms. Caputo and chaperones have to stay with your child to make sure they are safe. Sometimes, it becomes an extra 45+ minutes at school, after a long night. Thank you for your consideration.
November 11: End of Season Party – Please RSVP on the band website! Mark your calendars for the end-of-season Bowling party on Thursday, November 11 from 6-8pm at Bowlero in Norcross. This will be a fun celebration event, and we hope to see many students and parents there. The link to RSVP and pay is on our website. We need RSVPs and payment collected not later than November 9. Payment of $20 includes 90 minutes of bowling, shoe rental, arcade card, 2 slices of pizza and a soft drink. The price is the same for children and adults. End of Season Party (dunwoodybands.com)
