Hello DHS Bands!
Thank you students for a great homecoming week! I enjoyed getting to dress up with you all and show some school spirit throughout the week! I am even more excited that we officially have our entire 2021 Competition Show on the field!!!! The next two weeks we will continue to refine and polish in preparation for our big competition on November 6th. I will be sending more detailed information about our practice schedule and times in a follow up email this week.
Tuesday: Students will stay after school for our DCSD Band Evaluation Expo. We will practice before leaving for the event. Our performance time is 8:00pm.
Thursday: We will not have marching band practice due to concert preparation! Come see the Fall Band Halloween concert in the DHS cafeteria at 7pm!
Friday: Away game; practice after school 3:30-5:30pm.
Looking ahead: We will be having modifications to our practice schedule and locations. Tuesday, November 2^nd is a teacher workday, and we will be modifying our practice time. (Specific times coming; we may have to start our practice at 12:00pm in order to get field time that week.) Will confirm soon in follow up email.
Concert Band This is concert week for us! Please help our night be spooky spectacular by advertising for our concert, volunteering and or donating items to the event. Report time is 5:50pm in full costumes. Dress rehearsal at 6pm in the cafeteria. Doors open for family and friends at 6:45pm, and the concert starts at 7pm! Freshmen and Sophomores: bring something sweet (dessert) to share. Juniors and Seniors: bring something salty/savory to share. DHS Booster Board will provide drinks. Congratulations to our band and color guard students that were nominated as part of Homecoming Court this year: Basha Goodman, Deja Crowder, Camilla Nunez and CJ Hurst (concert band) – we are so proud of you!

This week: We will have an extremely busy week ahead. We have 3 events this week, and that means we need YOU! We need volunteers to chaperone students to the DCSD Exhibition on Tuesday, we still need a lot of volunteers to support the Fall Concert on Thursday, and we need volunteers to help with dinner and the away game on Friday night. Please consider helping this week. October 26: DeKalb (DCSD) Marching Expo. @ James R. Hallford Stadium in Clarkston. Adult tickets are $5. Students will stay after school, and we will feed them dinner and take buses to the event, which starts at 5:00pm. We will return to DHS around 10:00pm. Friday, November 5th is Senior Night at the DHS Football Game vs Duluth (dunwoodybands.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5e6dcb1443502b7d964068adb&id=76bb97b20c&e=7294eeb7f3) at North Dekalb Stadium. We’re so excited to honor and recognize our Marching Band seniors leading up to the game in several ways, but we need your help:
1. TAKE THE SURVEY – All senior families should have received an e-mail last Sunday with this link, but we have only received a few responses. Please have your senior click here to provide responses. PAY $10 – We have only received a few payments and really want to provide each senior & senior family with this fun surprise- please continue to send your $10 contributions via Venmo @DunwoodyBands and include your senior’s name. 3. RSVP FOR DINNER – Mad Italian will be catering a special Senior Dinner in the DHS cafeteria, before the game. Senior parents and siblings are welcome. Be on the lookout for an e-mailed invitation with RSVP link later this evening. We need final responses by Friday, October 29.
November 11: End of Season Party – Save the Date! Mark your calendars for the end-of-season bowling party on Thursday, November 11 at Bowlero in Norcross. We will send a link to RSVP and purchase tickets ($20 per person) in the next newsletter.
Dues Reminder: If you have not paid for your student’s MB or CG dues, please do so as soon as you can. If you are on a payment plan and need to adjust it, please communicate with us and we will work with you. Treasurer Needed. Our Treasurer, Mrs. Trish Cronin, is the mom of a senior, so we are looking for a new Treasurer. We would like the new Treasurer to work alongside Mrs. Cronin for the remainder of this school year to make it an easy transition. If you are organized and good with numbers, and you are willing to help an hour per week during Fall semester and an hour per month during Spring semester, we would love to talk with you!
